The Shaman berkisah tentang seorang dokter muda bernama Ryan (Oka Antara) yang mendapat penempatan tugas pertama di desa Sungai Duri di pedalaman Kalimantan yang merupakan kampung halaman ayahnya.
Semangatnya yang menggebu-gebu menjalani tugas sirna ketika beberapa kejadian aneh menghampirinya, tak berapa lama setelah bermukim di sana.
Ryan lantas meminta dua sahabatnya, Deny (Kemal Vivaveni) dan Hasan (Vicky Nitinegoro) menemani.
Menjalani hari demi hari di desa tersebut, ketiganya dibantu oleh Lila (Farah Debby), anak kepala desa setempat. Mereka secara tidak sengaja menemukan beberapa kejanggalan dan mencoba mengungkap apa yang terjadi di balik kejadian aneh itu.

They believed November 1st (All Saints Day) was the start of the New Year and because it was Winter, it was the darkest time of the year. On this one night, October 31st, they believed spirits, ghosts, goblins and fairies came down from the hills into the towns. Some people believed if you left “treats” on the front porch for the spirits and ghosts, this would make them happy and they would not hurt you. There are many other stories about how Halloween got started.
